Schlumberger được thành lập năm 1926 bởi 2 anh em người Pháp Conrad và Marcel Schlumberger với cái tên '''Société de prospection électrique '''. Ngày nay công ty cung cấp cho ngành công nghiệp Dầu khí những dịch vụ như thăm dò địa chấn, đánh giá thành hệ, thử giếng, khoan định hướng, trám xi măng, thu hồi tăng cường, khai thác nhân tạo (khai thác phun nhân tạo, bơm cơ học,...), hoàn thiện giếng, cung cấp các phần mềm và quản lý thông tin,...
