Erythrophagocytosis is the only characteristic that can be used to differentiate morphologically E. histolytica from the nonpathogenic E. dispar. In these specimens, the parasite nuclei have the typical small, centrally located karyosome, and thin, uniform peripheral chromatin. | |||
