Meganthias
Meganthias là một chi cá biển thuộc họ Anthiadidae. Chi này được lập ra bởi John E. Randall và Phillip C. Heemstra vào năm 2006.

Từ nguyên
Từ meganthias được ghép bởi hai âm tiết trong tiếng Hy Lạp cổ đại: mégas (μέγας; "to lớn") và anthías (ἀνθίας; Anthias, chi điển hình của họ Anthiadidae), hàm ý đề cập đến chiều dài chuẩn (standard length) của M. kingyo (27,8 cm SL) và M. natalensis (37,4 cm SL) lớn hơn nhiều so với các loài Odontanthias (không vượt quá 20,4 cm SL).[2]
Phân bố
Riêng M. carpenteri chỉ được tìm thấy ở Đông Đại Tây Dương, các loài còn lại có phân bố ở khu vực Ấn - Thái Dương.

- Meganthias natalensis (Fowler, 1925)
Tình trạng phân loại
Trong cây phân tích dựa trên trình tự COI của Zajonz và cộng sự (2020), M. kingyo và M. natalensis tạo thành một nhóm đơn ngành, tuy nhiên Sacura speciosa lại nằm chung nhánh với nhóm này. Tuy vậy, những kết quả hiện tại cho thấy cần có một phân tích phát sinh chủng loại toàn diện để làm sáng tỏ tình trạng phân loại của các chi này.[7]
